The One Spring Project I Have to Do Before I Can Relax
There’s something about early spring that flips a switch for me.
Before I even think about patio furniture or a drink outside, I get the itch to reset everything outdoors. Not casually. Not halfway. I mean the full refresh.
This year, that looked like:
A full porch refresh
Digging out and re-barking the front yard
Pressure washing… basically every surface we own
The backyard (which is all patio), the driveway, the front porch, the sidewalk. If it could be cleaned, it was on the list.
With the help of my husband, and some hired help for the front yard, we tackled all of the heavy, messy work in one day. One very long, very productive day.
And honestly? That’s the only way I like to do it.
Because for me, spring doesn’t officially start until this part is done. It’s like I can’t fully relax until everything feels fresh again. Like the outside of the house has caught up with the season.
Now, every time I:
Look out the window
Pull into the driveway
Step onto the front porch
…I catch myself smiling.
Everything just feels lighter. Cleaner. Reset.
Of course, now comes the waiting game.
Waiting for those real spring days, the ones where the sun sticks around long enough to matter. The ones where you can finally pull out the patio furniture without second-guessing your life choices.
But when that day comes? We’re ready.
And after all that work we’ve definitely earned it.
Because nothing says “spring” like sore muscles, clean concrete, and the promise of finally sitting down outside.
