Skincare Without the Stress: What’s Actually Working for Us in Our 50’s
Let’s be Honest – Skincare Can Feel a Little Overwhelming Sometimes
Make it stand out
There are serums, acids, creams, oils… and a million opinions on exactly how you should be using them. It’s enough to make you want to throw in the towel (preferably a clean, fluffy one).

So, here’s the thing: I’m not a dermatologist. I’m not an aesthetician. I’m just a regular person and I’ve tested plenty of products over the years, some hits, some misses and finally I landed on a few that really work for me. I’ve tried countless products, from drugstore staples to higher-end lines. This is not professional advice, just a friendly share from one skincare enthusiast to another.
For the past several years, I’ve really been enjoying using Elemis products. I usually stock up when they go on sale (hello, November/December and June/July deals!), either directly from Elemis or on Amazon.
These days, my routine is all about keeping my skin feeling clean, hydrated, and protected—without spending an hour in front of the mirror.
In the mornings, I like to keep things quick and simple: cleansing, adding a bit of moisturizer, and always wearing sunscreen. Most days, I start with these skincare products, which are listed in the order I use them. Dynamic resurfacing facial wash, Superfood Face Oil (just a few drops goes a long way), Procollagen Marine Cream with SPF 30 (again, you don’t need much), Superfood Glow Priming Moisturizer (I mix this product with either tinted sunscreen, coverup, or foundation, depending on the season).
And your friendly reminder to always wear sunscreen before starting your makeup routine. Currently, I’m using and loving Elta MD tinted facial sunscreen.
Best of all, this entire routine takes me less than 15 minutes. Then I’m fresh-faced and ready to start the day whether that’s running errands, jumping on Zoom/Teams calls, or just hanging out with family and friends.
And after a long day, I look forward to my evening skincare routine and can actually feel the stress of the day melting away as I cleanse and moisturize my skin. I start by removing my makeup with Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm Makeup Remover, before grabbing a resurfacing pad (or two) Dynamic resurfacing facial pads (I use these every few nights, usually twice a week), then I add my favorite moisturizer Pro-Collagen Marine Cream (this keeps my skin hydrated year round).
I’ve found that when I stay consistent with my skincare routine, my skin feels smoother, healthier, and more balanced overall. It doesn’t have to be complicated, just a little consistency really adds up!

Over the past year, I’ve made a conscious shift in how I care for my skin. I’ve learned that less really is more. I’ve simplified my routine and transitioned to high quality, cleaner products that work well for my fair, sensitive skin.
My Morning Routine
In the morning, I start with a Norwex Makeup Remover Cloth and just water to gently cleanse my face and neck. No soap, no fuss, just a soft, clean refresh to start the day. Then I apply the Hugh & Grace Face Serum to my face, which I love for its simplicity (just one powerful serum does the job), and Maelys B-Glossy to my neck. (the bottle will last you 6 months). Next comes my moisturizer: Sky & Sol Day and Night Moisturizer to both my face and neck. I finish my routine with RMS Beauty Supernatural Radiance Serum Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen, a must-have for protecting my skin and giving it a subtle tinted glow. (I use Light Aura in the winter and Medium Aura in the summer.) I also make sure I add Sky & Sol Face and Body Sunscreen to my neck and chest (so important).
My Evening Routine
At night, I remove makeup with Caudalie Vinoclean Micellar Cleansing Water using a soft cotton round. Then I wash with Dime Beauty Gentle Jelly Cleanser, which feels light and non-drying. After cleansing, I swipe on Dime Super Skin Toner to tone and prep my skin. I follow with Hugh & Grace Night Serum on my face and Maelys B-Glossy on my neck. Then finish everything off with the Sky & Sol Day and Night Moisturizer (yes, again—it’s that good!).
This routine is not only clean and simple, but deeply moisturizing and soothing for my sensitive skin. No irritation, no overwhelm, just products that work.
